Get Involved with our Community Enviro Projects.

Want to volunteer in some of our environment projects? We have some regular opportunities for community members to come together and love where they live! We also co-ordinate environmental excursions & incursions for schools, kinders, and early learning centres.

Want us to help you do similar things in another location? Get in touch!

  • Come and join us in cleaning up Deanside Wetlands in Aintree, for We Love Aintree's 8th Annual Community Clean Up for Clean Up Australia Day.

Deanside Wetlands are a critical part of the local ecosystem and are home to many waterbirds, frogs, birds of prey, kangaroos, insects and more. However, the human activity and development in the area is putting pressure on this vulnerable seasonal wetland. Plastic pollution is of a particular worry, with wildlife getting caught in plastic, or having it pollute the waterways they call home.

So and come and help us look after this ecosystem by collecting litter from the area of the wetlands along Gilderton Ave in Aintree.

Everyone is welcome to attend with everything provided - gloves (if you can BYO please do), bags, and refreshments. Please wear:

    - sturdy closed-toe shoes (eg boots)

    - a hat and sunscreen

    - dress appropriately for the weather (wind, rain, heat)

Date: Sunday March 2 at 9.30am
Location: Meet at Deanside Wetlands on Gilderton Esp, Aintree

  • Take 3 for the Trail and help us clean up the Aintree Reserve parkrun course.

Saturday March 1st is the weekend of Clean Up Australia Day, and we are hosting a clean up as part of Aintree Reserve parkrun. Come down to parkrun, as per usual, but join in some Plogging (Picking up Litter while Jogging) or Plwalking (Picking up Litter while Walking).

parkrun is a free 5km walk/run which starts every Saturday at 8am at Aintree Reserve (7:45am briefing). On March 1st We Love Aintree will be providing bags, gloves, and bins for anyone who wants to pick up rubbish along the path while participating in parkrun. If 80 people come and pick up 3 pieces of rubbish each, we will go a long way to cleaning up the entire trail!

You don’t need to carry it the whole 5km, drop it in a bin along the way. And if you’re aiming to run a 5k PB, you don’t have to join in — this is absolutely optional for parkrunners. It’s simply for anyone who is taking parkrun fairly leisurely and wants to join in cleaning up along trail by our creek & wetlands.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
